Terms:
1. Globalization- the process enabling financial and investment markets to operate internationally, largely as a result of deregulation and improved communications. “It has been said that arguing against globalization is like arguing against the laws of gravity.”
2. Culture- the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc. “Culture is the widening of the mind and of the spirit.”
3. Civilization- an advanced state of human society, in which a high level of culture, science, industry, and government has been reached.“America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between.”
4. History- the branch of knowledge dealing with past events.“History will be kind to me for I intend to write it”
5. Progress- developmental activity in science, technology, etc., esp. with reference to the commercial opportunities created there by or to the promotion of the material well-being of the public through the goods, techniques, or facilities created. “Discontent is the first step in the progress of a man or a nation”
