Athens developed one of the first democracies ever. It was made up of the different common Athenian people. A democracy is a form of political organization which all people through their vote exercise their equal control over peoples interests. Democracy is Greek for rule of the people. After Athens made their democracy, many Greek city states followed after them. Athens was a powerful democracy and was the only stable one in the Greek world. It was considered a direct democracy. A direct democracy is a democracy that had no elected rulers. This was a time when people no matter your social status.
